Running a business alone means wearing every hat: designer, project manager, marketer, bookkeeper, and sometimes even IT emergency response in the middle of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the years, I\u2019ve learned a few lessons about balance\u2026 not the perfect kind, but the kind that keeps me grounded and able to keep showing up for my clients and<\/em> myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When you\u2019re your own boss, it\u2019s easy to let work spill into every corner of your life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019ve learned that boundaries are what make this lifestyle sustainable. For me, that looks like office hours, blocked-off client days, and unplugging in the evenings so I don\u2019t burn out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n At first, I felt guilty stepping away from my desk during the day. But I\u2019ve realized breaks aren\u2019t wasted time\u2026 they\u2019re what recharge my creativity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n One morning a week (unless they need a driver another day), I deliver Meals on Wheels, which gives me a change of pace and a reminder that life is bigger than client deadlines. Those resets make my design work sharper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I used to think balance meant dividing my energy evenly between work, life, and everything else. But real balance looks more like shifting priorities depending on the week. Some seasons are heavier with client projects, while others give me more space to focus on business development or personal rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Even though I run my studio solo, I\u2019ve learned balance means not trying to do it all<\/em> alone. Connecting with other creatives, collaborating with partners, and leaning on friends for perspective keeps me sane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There\u2019s no finish line where you suddenly \u201cachieve\u201d balance\u2026 it\u2019s more of a practice.
