Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD)—a day to pause and reflect on how we can build a more inclusive digital world, one design at a time. As the founder, designer, and creative heart behind nth degree media & designs, I want to take a moment to reaffirm something that’s been central to my work for years: accessibility isn’t optional—it’s essential.

Why Accessibility Matters

In a world where so much of life happens online, digital access is a human right. Whether it’s a nonprofit’s website, an online flyer, or social media content, everyone deserves to be able to engage with information in a way that works for them. That includes people who are blind or low-vision, deaf or hard of hearing, have mobility challenges, cognitive differences, or use assistive technology.

Accessibility means more than just checking boxes. It’s about respect. It’s about dignity. It’s about making sure that what we create doesn’t leave anyone out.

Experience Rooted in Advocacy

For over a decade, I’ve had the privilege of partnering with disability-focused organizations—helping them translate their incredible work into digital and print formats that are accessible, clear, and engaging. From accessible PDFs and social media graphics to WCAG-compliant websites, I’ve spent years designing with intention and empathy, always guided by the lived experiences of people with disabilities.

That real-world collaboration has taught me more than any checklist ever could.

My Ongoing Commitment

As a one-woman creative studio, I take pride in offering personalized, thoughtful design—and accessibility is baked into that process from the start. Whether I’m building a site or laying out a brochure, I make sure to:

  • Use semantic, screen reader-friendly HTML and ARIA where appropriate
  • Follow WCAG guidelines for color contrast, keyboard navigation, and media alternatives
  • Ensure digital materials are readable, responsive, and easy to navigate
  • Test designs with accessibility tools and, when possible, user feedback
  • Keep learning—because accessibility is always evolving

Let’s Create a More Inclusive Web—Together

If you’re a nonprofit, business, or individual looking to make your digital content more accessible, I’d love to help. Whether it’s a site audit, a new project, or adapting existing materials, accessibility is something I don’t treat as an add-on. It’s a mindset—and a promise I stand by.

On this Global Accessibility Awareness Day, I invite you to join me in making inclusion a priority every day—not just today.

Because good design works for everyone.
